The Top 3 Best Types of Guitars for Beginners

Choosing the best guitar when starting out can be quite tough, especially if you’ve had zero experience with it in the first place. This is in fact, one of the first challenges I had when I started playing.

So I’ve come up with these top 3 guitars that will definitely make your journey on playing this one-of-a-kind instrument a whole lot better and easier.

There are a wide variety of guitars that you can choose from – which only makes matters worse, if you ask me. But basically, it all boils down to 2 main types: the Acoustic Guitar and the Electric Guitar. Under those two main categories lies other types, but you don’t have to literally know all of those at this point yet. So to make it easier, below are my best bets for the best guitar to develop the guitar hero in you.

1. The Acoustic Steel String Guitar:

This lies under the Acoustic Category and is probably the best type of guitar for all beginners. Because of how this guitar is typically made, you get to strengthen your fingers as you press down on the strings to form the chords that you are practicing. This will also prepare you for playing the electric guitar in future if you dare to give rock music a try. This is the most common type of guitar being used if you just want to sit down, relax and jam with your friends. This is also the best guitar to purchase if you are in a tight budget.  My best recommendation is the Yamaha FG700 and you can never go wrong with the CORT Trailblazer Pack which mostly has the needed things to go along with it.

2. The Electro-Acoustic Guitar:

If you can afford to spend a little bit more, you can always resort to this type in preparation for playing the electric guitar. Physically, it looks no different than the steel-stringed acoustic guitar. What makes it different is that it has a built in electronic device known as a “pick-up” which is mainly used to amplify the sound coming from the guitar. Like the first type, this can also strengthen your fingers as you practice along. What’s best about this type is that you can plug this to an amplifier and you can very well listen to the chord you are practicing. My best recommendation for this is the Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar Player Pack.

3.  The Electric Guitar:

This is probably the most exciting, and not to mention, the most expensive type of guitar to own. Every beginner who has tried playing this type of guitar the first time would swear that it had been a memorable and quite an exhilarating experience. The great thing about this is that chords can be easily formed because the neck of these electric guitars is much thinner than the acoustics. You also don’t need to press on the strings real hard because the amplifier will easily pick up the sound of the chord that you are trying to form. You’ll also notice that the strings are much closer to the fret board as compared to the acoustic. It is also much thinner as well because electric guitars have solid bodies instead of hollow ones. My best recommendation for this is the Epiphone Les Paul 100. You can definitely never go wrong with this electric guitar.

On a final note, the guitar that you will choose should fit you best. It shouldn’t be too big, if you’ve got small hands. But for me, no one could really choose what is best for you. Sure, we could give you tips, advice, brand names, and the like, but it is only you, who could choose the best one. Once you hold the guitar, there is this “feeling” that what you have in your hands is perfect. That is indeed quite hard to explain. I wish you all the luck in choosing the best one for you. Happy strumming!
